I’d been playing backgammon my whole and never played in a tournament.  To be honest, I didn’t even know you could play in a backgammon tournament.  Then I started playing online and saw ads for professional backgammon tournaments that were being shown on television and how you could play online was well.  I turned on the television and checked it out.  It was really incredible to see how big these tournaments are.  I mean, guys are playing for million dollar prizes, and there are even celebrity tournaments; I’d never known.

So I decided I wanted in on the fun and joined a backgammon tournament online.  Wow, was it fun.  It took my backgammon play to another level.  I was playing game after game against other online backgammon players from all over the world.  The players were actually a lot of fun as well, everyone was pretty nice and excited about the tournament and I had some great conversations while picking up some great backgammon strategy tips.

The best part is that in the end, backgammon tournaments can be very profitable.  I haven’t one won yet, but I haven’t done badly either and have walked away with some nice money and bonuses like free entrance into high buy-in games.  In the end, though, backgammon tournaments are just a great way to enjoy an afternoon and have a lot of fun.  And with the high quality of backgammon players that show up to play, the tournaments are also the best way to really try out your skills and become a better backgammon player.
